Insurance and liability
Draft for review
This page is a working draft for a UK same day courier. Every figure in it — notice
periods, payment terms, retention, cancellation charges — is a proposed default, not a
position anyone has settled. It must be reviewed and signed off by the operator's
solicitor before the site goes live. Set BRAND_LEGAL_REVIEWED_ON once that
has happened and this notice goes away on its own.
This page explains what is covered while your consignment is with us, what is not, and what to do if something goes wrong. It summarises the position — the conditions of carriage and the insurer's own policy wording are what govern a claim.
What is included as standard
Every job carries goods in transit cover up to £500 per consignment. This is included in the fare; there is nothing to add at checkout and no separate premium.
Cover applies from the moment the courier takes possession of the consignment to the moment it is handed over at the delivery address, or returned to you if delivery fails.
Higher value consignments
If what you are sending is worth more than the standard limit, tell us when you book and we will arrange cover before collection. We cannot arrange it retrospectively, and a consignment carried without declared cover is covered only to the standard limit however much it was actually worth.
What is not covered
- Items on the prohibited list, whether or not we knew we were carrying them.
- Damage caused by inadequate packaging for the journey.
- Inherent vice — perishables deteriorating, flowers wilting, temperature-sensitive goods without an agreed cold chain.
- Consequential loss: the missed meeting, the lost contract, the cancelled event. Cover is for the goods themselves.
- Delay. We work hard to be on time, and we report honestly when we are not, but cover is for loss and damage rather than lateness.
Making a claim
Tell us as soon as you can and no later than 7 days after the delivery date, or after the date delivery should have taken place. We will need the job reference, photographs of the item and its packaging, and evidence of value — an invoice, a receipt or a replacement cost. We acknowledge claims within 2 working days and aim to resolve them within 30 days of receiving everything we need.
If you are a consumer, these time limits are how quickly we ask you to tell us, not a condition of being paid, and nothing here affects your statutory rights or the time the law allows you to bring a claim.
Our couriers
Every courier on the network holds hire and reward insurance for their vehicle and their own goods in transit cover. We verify both before a courier takes their first job and check them again annually. A courier whose cover lapses is taken off the network until it is reinstated.
[For build: the application form records these as the applicant's own declarations and nothing in the dispatch panel stores a verification date, a policy number or an expiry. Until it does, this paragraph describes an intended process the system cannot evidence — which is exactly what an insurer or a claimant will ask for.]
[For legal review: insert the insurer's name, policy number, the per-consignment and annual aggregate limits, the excess, the claim notification period, and whether cover is on an all-risks or named-perils basis. Every figure on this page must match the policy schedule.]
